Foxy Brown's assault case, which alleged that she had beat a woman up with her cell phone two years ago, was dismissed by a New York judge. The suit, which was filed last year by Arlene Raymond, a neighbor of the rapper in Crown Heights, claimed that Foxy smashed her in the face with a BlackBerry over an argument about the noise level of Foxy's car radio. According to the New York Post, Justice Robert Miller ruled that Foxy had never been served with legal papers, the grounds on which the trial was dismissed. "They knew this was a weak case," said Brown previously to the New York Daily News. "My family has lived on that block for almost 50 years and has never been a problem."

In the excerpt, Tia Kemp describes the problems she's had collecting child support from Ross.

"It wasn't just the child support case that was getting me down," it reads. "It was all of it. How he treated me like he was better than me and smarter than me during our whole relationship, how when I dated him it was almost like I dated his momma because she was so involved in his life, how his pathetic first baby's mama did everything she could to disrespect me every step of the way and he did nothing, how he verbally and physically abused me, how I left my marriage to be with him. This was the last straw."


She has also voiced her reasons for going through with a tell-all book.

"The reason I felt that it would be interesting to write a book is because I have had a very big struggle in my life," Tia said in an interview. "I grew up without a father, my mom was a single parent and it was very hard for her to raise six kids on her own. Being the oldest, I experienced a lot of things growing up, a lot of challenges in life that I went through. I got married young, I had two kids and after that I ended up getting in a another relationship...When I met Ross he wasn't a celebrity. There are a lot of things that I experienced in my life before I met Ross that was overwhelming or outrageous or just crazy. And there are a lot of things that we went through that I thought would be very interesting for people out in the world to hear."

A new report shows both Rick Ross and 50 Cent's past record sales have increased by over 60 percent since their rap beef jumped off in January 2009. Since 50 Cent and Rick Ross started beefing in the beginning of the year, the sales of Ross' two previous albums have increased by 62%, while sales of 50 Cent's three catalog titles grew by 74%, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Thanks to 50 Cent, tomorrow Rick Ross will land the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top 200 this week. Rick Ross will top next week's HITS Album Sales chart, with between 150-160k in sales for his third album, Deeper Than Rap. Rick Ross last album "Trilla," sold over 700k, and his 2006 debut, Port of Miami, sold over 800k. Both debuted at #1 one on the billboard top 200 charts.

No I.D. On Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3, “[It’s] Like 808s & Heartbreak But More Hip-Hop”
While there is no release date in sight, the anticipation continues to bubble on Jay-Z’s forthcoming album, Blueprint 3. Kanye West mentor and frequent collaborator No I.D. recently spoke on the disc, hinting on how it’s shaping up.

In an interview with Jasiri X, the Chicago producer, who also worked on Jay’s American Gangster, said that him and Kanye are collaborating on Blueprint together.

“I’ma say we were doing Blueprint 3 when we did ‘Heartless,’” he said. “’Heartless’ made 808s and Heartbreak happen and all that is related but everything in Blueprint 3 is like 808s and Heartbreak but more hip-hop. So they related than Jay brings it around to make it hip-hop credible.”

No. I.D. is confident about the fans’ reaction to Jigga’s 10th solo album. “[There’s] some records on there,” he smirked. “That record is also gonna be a record that grows on people in a certain way and in a certain amount of time it’s gonna be a full-fledged classic.”

As of press time it is still uncertain what label Blueprint 3 will be released on, Def Jam or Hov’s Roc Nation label on Live Nation.

Former Clipse manager and nightclub owner Anthony "Geezy” Gonzalez has been charged in U.S. District Court with running a $10 million a year drug ring. According to federal documents, Gonzalez’s 6 year drug empire has allegedly moved 100 pounds of cocaine and over a ton of marijuana through Hampton Roads, Virginia since 2003.
Authorities suspect Gonzalez imported the drugs from Panama Florida, California, and Arizona. The 82-count indictment states that Gonzalez laundered drug money through several front businesses, including the Clipse’s booking agency Soul Providers Management. The federal document elaborates that the defendants painted “themselves out as music producers, rappers, entrepreneurs, club owners, clothing designers and other legitimate occupations in order to conceal the true source of their income.”
In addition, Gonzalez is accused of making several kingpin transactions, such as purchasing 10 kilos cocaine for $200,000, and 625 pounds of marijuana for $540,000 in 2007. Gonzalez’s Encore Lounge nightclub was allegedly purchased in 2007 for $80,000 and 40 pounds of marijuana. Earlier this year, the Virginia Beach nightclub closed down after a reputed 100-plus incidents of violence and drug transactions in 2008. Six other co-conspirators were named in the 60-page document, including a police officer who allegedly tipped Gonzalez off about the coming indictment. To date, Anthony “Geezy” Gonzalez remains at large. At press time, the Clipse could not be reached for comment.

“The reason I named it Crime Pays … I’m not sitting around boasting or anything, but there’s a way to get around everything in the system,” he rationalized recently. “My favorite instance in particular, with me — I went to college and didn’t graduate from high school. I got to college and my coach brought the GED to my room like, ‘Here, you graduated, congratulations.’ Even though it’s a junior college … I never took my SATs coming out of high school. Cam’s basketball career ended abruptly due to a hamstring injury, so he went back to New York and got back into rapping. Millions of albums and a legendary crew named the Diplomats later, he now employs people as well as crafts songs.

“To work for me and DukeDaGod — you gotta have a college degree if you want to work for us,” he said. “Neither one of us has a college degree. Well, he does, but I don’t have a high school diploma. So what’s the irony of that? And if you work for us, we’re not hiring you unless you have a degree. And you have to take a drug test. But we don’t have a degree and we smoke weed — it’s irony.”

Crime Pays lands in stores on May 12.

Producer/rapper Pharrell Williams recently got laser surgery to get his tattoos removed. Pharrell burn all the tattoos off his arms, and posted the photos on his blog. As you can see in the photo, Pharrell has both of his arms bandaged up, as they heal.

RAPPER LIL WAYNE APPEARS IN COURT FOR GUN PROSESSION CHARGE

Yesterday, rapper Lil' Wayne made an appearance in a Manhattan Superior Court to answer to gun charges stemming from his 2007 arrest.

According to MTV News, Lil Wayne remained silent as his attorney presented a motion for additional discovery, which makes the arresting officer's presence in court next month mandatory.

The motion was reportedly filed because of differences between the the officer's story and the detective that filed the police report.

According to police, they smelled marijuana coming from the rapper's tour bus and got aboard, at which time they found the illegal handgun. Wayne's lawyer contends they never smelled marijuana and therefore had no reason to get on the bus.

Wayne's lawyer also filed an affidavit to call into question the DNA testing authorities used to prove the gun belonged to the rapper.

At press time, Wayne, the detective and the police officer were scheduled to appear back before the judge on May 20.

The case has been pushed back until June 4th. Back in March, Jim Jones refused a plea deal during his court appearance. This all stems from an alleged altercation last December between the two men in the 5th Avenue Louis Vuitton store. Javon Smith is suing Jim Jones for $7 million due to the pain he claims to have suffered from the incident.

Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z was eating and dining out at M2 Hotspot in the Chelsea section of Manhattan a few weeks ago. Today Jay-Z is being accused of not paying a $1,500 nightclub bill in New York City prompting the owner to consider pressing charges.


"Jay-Z ordered a bottle of Patron Platinum and some expensive champagne, and everything was going great," he explained. "Jay-Z ended up tipping the waitress $500 and going outside to wait...Before we could [Kyser] to sign the receipt, he left the club...Of course, we still have his card, so we called up his office, and his assistant told us someone would come by to sign. Weeks went by, and no one ever did. Finally, we got a call from AmEx and were told that Kyser was disputing the charge. When we called him up again, his assistant said, 'Oh, Michael says he doesn't actually remember being there' -- which is crazy because we have his card and photos of him and Jay-Z. (New York Post)

No matter if I am home in New Jersey, in New York or in Philly, I always hear little teenages from the ages of 13-17, saying Lil Wayne is their role model and Idol. How could your role model be someone that is addicted to drugs and drink lean/syrup? If you guys don't know what lean/syrup is, it is a presciption cough medicine that contains promethazine and codeine. I am also seeing a lot of teenage boys starting to get a lot of tattoos and piercing like Lil Wayne. Seriously, do you guys really know what you are doing to yourselves? All those tattoos are stupid and useless. 95% the tattoos that people have does not mean anything. Putting tattoos on your neck and face is flat out uneducated and stupid. CONTROVERSIAL RAPPER KANYE WEST COURT DATE WAS YESTERDAY

Kanye West's lawyer went to court today and won a delay for West's arraignment for smashing a photog's gear. The famous Blair Berk reps Kanye, who is charged with vandalism, battery and grand theft -- stemming from a tussle with two photogs at LAX last year. Kanye's manager, Don Crowley, is also charged with two counts of vandalism, two counts of battery and two counts of grand theft. He's repped by prominent defense attorney Shawn Chapman Holley. Bond on both defendants was exonerated because they do not have criminal records and promised to appear for their arraignments. The incident occurred on September 11, 2008. A TMZ cameraman captured the confrontation.

ATL RAPPER T.I. SPEAKS ON HIS SOLO ALBUM AFTER HE IS RELEASE FROM PRISON


T.I. is expected to turn himself in to do a one year prison sentence for gun prosession this May, but he has already started work on a new album upon release.

T.I new album will be the follow up to his platinum-plus Paper Trail. The new album is tentatively scheduled to hit shelves in 2010. According to MTV News the T.I. has already recorded 20 tracks in preparation for his new project. While he picked up the pen for Paper Trail, Tip says he’s recording some tracks straight from his memory.

“I’m doing it half and half,” he told MTV of his writing process. “It depends on the type of record I’m doing. I have records now I did and I just went and did it like I used to, and I got some where I wrote it down. I’m not committing myself to one way or another. It’d have to be an infusion, just depending on what sort of album I want to make.”

“Recording is never a problem for me,” he added. “I’m able to record any time. Through the best of times and through the worst of times, I’m still able to record. It may change the sort of song you do, but you never can tell. You never know until that moment gets there.”

In A few weeks, T.I. will also be re-releasing Paper Trail with five new songs, as well as other extra content.

Cam'ron has reportedly backtracked on his previous stance against a reunion with Jim Jones and Juelz Santana, saying steps towards Diplomats uniting could happen in the future.

Though he says his main focus is on promoting Crime Pays and his new rap group U.N., Killa has hinted at being willing to patch things up.

"My year is booked up," Cam said in an interview. I don't have time for that. I wish them the best of luck. Maybe next year we can sit down and talk, but no time soon. Right now, I'm focused on Crime Pays and the rest of my 2009 plan."

JUELZ SANTANA: "CAM'RON CAN'T LOOK IN THE MIRROR"

At the end of March, Cam’ron officially pulled the plug on any talk of a Diplomats reunion. Now, Cam’s former rhyme partner and protégé Juelz Santana is putting all Dip Set talk behind him—and says he’s happy to do so. The Def Jam artist recently spoke to MTV about the situation. In addition to the business relationship between the Dips going south, Santana indicated that personal relationships between several in the group have dissolved as well. "I'm just glad that people get to see the type of person he really is," Santana said. "Once again, he said a lot of things about Jim — [talking to] him, which I don't really know about. We all had separate relationships at the end of the day. [Cam'ron] has yet to tell people what Juelz did. You dig what I'm saying? Let's be serious.” Santana also alluded to some wrong doing on Cam’ron’s part, which may further fuel rumors that the business relationship between the two wasn’t what it was supposed to be. “At the end of the day, [Cam'ron] can't look in the mirror when it comes to me. He knows how loyal I was to him," he added. "He knows how much of a brother I was to him."
According to Santana, Cam’ron killing the reunion makes it easier for the younger member of the crew to keep it pushing. "It kind of makes me feel good, 'cause it lets the people know you don't have to ask me that [reunion] question. He's telling y'all. 'No matter what the fans want, I'm not doing it.' It takes a load off my back. Cam gave y'all the answer. He's the boss. He's always been the boss. I never tried to take that [a]way from him. It is what it is. I'm moving forward. We all got kids. I got family, my peoples got families. We're moving forward."

ATL RAPPER T.I. WILL RE-RELEASE "PAPER TRAIL"

Before to prison next month, T.I. will re-release his best-selling album to date, Paper Trail. MTV News reports that the Atlanta rapper will include five additional tracks on the project. T.I. will choose from a number of previously recorded songs.
As of now, I am unsure of which songs will make the cut, possible choices include two tracks that didn’t make the commercial release of Paper Trail: “Like I Do,” featuring The-Dream, and “My Dear,” featuring Ciara.

“I’m still in the process of picking the songs,” T.I. told MTV News. “But I’m also still recording. I’m able to record any time—through the best of times and through the worst of times, I’m still able to record. It may change the sort of song you do, but you never can tell. You never know until that moment gets there.”

HARLEM RAPPER JIM JONES WAS ARRESTED OVER THE WEEKEND

Jim Jones was picked up by police in Northern New Jersey yesterday (April 7) on an outstanding warrant.

Despite the seriousness of being arrested, the rapper (born Joseph Guillermo Jones III) took time out to update fans on the incident via his Twitter page.

In a 12:24 a.m. post on his Twitter account Jones told his fans he was pulled over by police.

"I decide to drive by myself let's see how this plays out," he wrote.

At 1:10 a.m. the rapper added another update saying, "Well, it didn't go the way I wanted I'm in the precint but I still have my phone they ain't trippin, they said just procedure."

Upon his release at almost 2 a.m., the rapper again took to his Twitter page, explaining the reason for his arrest.

"Misses officer let me go the funny part was watching them have to count all the money in my pocket lol I must say they were very cool," he wrote at 1:53 a.m."And it was a punk ass warrant from 2005 for 120 dollars. Make sure you pay old tickets."

Since she began pushing her upcoming album, Fantasy Ride, the internet has been abuzz with reports of Ciara copying Beyonce's style. According to Ciara, however, the perceived imitation is merely an expression of her own individuality.

Word originally started to spread when Ciara revealed the emergence of her alter ego Super C, a move Beyonce pulled with the release of her latest album I Am... Sasha Fierce. Things then got a little to coincidental for fans when it appeared that Ciara's style and choreography were also being inspired by Beyonce.

During an interview with Honey Mag, however, CiCi addressed the compare similarities, brushing them off as nonexistent.

"I don't think there's really anything to address. I think it's very, very funny," Ciara said.

"They must have really enjoyed [my shows] that much to go and nitpick it, because it's something they pulled up and was like, 'Yo! There were a couple of things in there that I've never seen.' I think that it's important for us as artists to be original and to create something new, so it would be really silly of me to go and create something you've already seen."

"So not one time were any of my references another artist. My references were clearly inspired from shows that I've actually seen. It goes to show how creative we can be and how close the worlds are. I did my first video with my metal outfit. I was inspired by Thierry Mugler. Now, from my understanding, Beyonce is using Thierry Mugler for her tour. It just is what it is. It's very petty to me."

CiCi also considered the criticism an inevitable side effect of her changing her style and growing up.

"It's expected," Ciara continued. "I am growing older, and I think it's just a different transition for me because people were used to seeing me one way -- even my creative ideas. They're so used to seeing me with one vibe. That's what this record's about -- showing that there's a lot more to me that you haven't seen. There's a lot more that I want to share. So it's expected. Whenever you do something different than what people expect you're going to automatically get, 'Oh gosh! What is she doing? We want the old CiCi.' Who I am, who you know me as in the beginning has never changed. There are things that feel really good to me and I'm happy to express that."

Ciara's Fantasy Ride is due in stores next month.

Chris Brown has just pled not guilty to two felonies -- assault and making criminal threats.

With ex girlfriend Rihanna nowhere in sight, Brown showed up at L.A. County criminal courthouse to face the music for allegedly beating the crap out of her back in February.

Brown is due back in court on April 29.


RIHANNA WANTS A PLEA DEAL

Donald Etra just said Rihanna would be pleased "if it [the case] were over quickly" -- as in plea bargain. Etra was asked what kind of deal would she want -- he said she recognized it wasn't up to her. He acknowledged there were efforts underway to resolve the case -- so he knows...

As we first reported, Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, and the prosecutor are in the throws of plea bargain negotiations and one source says a deal is "close." Rihanna has made it clear -- she does not want to go to court, although Etra says she will cooperate if ordered to do so.

If you're wondering why Mark Geragos didn't speak -- we have no doubt prosecutors would be pissed off if he stepped in front of the mic during negotiations ... so its all the more intriguing that Rihanna's lawyer answered all of the questions.

Chris Brown will allegedly plead Not Guilty today during his arraignment. Chris is set to appear before the judge today in L.A. to face his charges of Assault and Making Criminal Threats in the Rihanna case. Apparently his lawyer has told him he has a case for him to be entering that plea. No word on if Rihanna will be there as she was spotted partying in Barbados all weekend. Chris has also been in intense negotiations with Rih’s lawyer for a plea deal. He doesn’t want to do any jail time and is seeing what he can do in exchange for all that.

To the list of lofty names that glamorize the city’s fried chicken stands, like Crown, Royal and Kennedy, one Brooklyn restaurant owner decided to add another: Obama.

From the restaurant’s perspective, the name change grew out of pride in the new president and a keen sense of commerce. From other perspectives, it was tone-deaf at best, and racist at worst. When the restaurant, Royal Fried Chicken on Rutland Road in Brownsville, changed its name last week to Obama Fried Chicken, the reaction was swift.

“Community leaders came. They told us we have to change the name,” said Mohammad Jabbar, 33, the manager. “They said if you don’t change it they will take action.”

It was the latest outbreak of commercial enthusiasm for President Obama and his family. An Illinois company tried to sell dolls that looked like the president’s daughters, and a Brooklyn brewery, Sixpoint Craft Ales, named a beer Hop Obama in honor of the community organizer in chief.

A few minutes’ drive from Obama Fried Chicken, Obama Beauty Supply opened its doors several months ago. Its owner, Mohammed Seraji, said he was inspired by his children’s enthusiasm for the president, along with Mr. Obama’s popularity in the neighborhood. A Michelle Obama wig he sells, for $49.99, is emerging as a popular item.

A White House spokesman, Ben LaBolt, said in an e-mail message, “The White House has a longstanding policy of disapproving uses of the president’s name and likeness for commercial purposes.”

At the restaurant, Mr. Jabbar, who said he had been a lawyer and university instructor in his native Bangladesh before moving here in January, has, apart from serving food, become Obama Fried Chicken’s spokesman. The owner, he said, did not wish to speak to reporters.

Explaining the decision to rename the restaurant, Mr. Jabbar said that not only was the owner fond of President Obama but that the entire neighborhood also “loved” him.

“From this love, everything is happening,” Mr. Jabbar said, weary from all the attention.

There were support and derision for the unnamed owner along Rutland Road, where most every store hangs a picture of the president, and where, on a rainy Friday, passers-by took cellphone pictures of the rebranded fried chicken stand.

Chantel Harewood, 18, a college student who grew up in the neighborhood, ordered food from Mr. Jabbar and said she liked the new name. “Why not? It’s history,” she said. “All these stereotypes. People got to relax.”

However, Mr. Jabbar said that the restaurant was bowing to the pressure, and that it would be renamed Popular Fried Chicken by the weekend. Ms. Harewood did not think much of the new name. “That’s so blah, predictable, typical,” she said. The current name, she added, gave her “pride.”

In the Au Monde Chic barbershop, where Mr. Obama’s portrait hung on a back wall, Alnord Benoit cut a customer’s hair and called the name change “disrespectful.”

“Did he get permission from Obama?” Mr. Benoit asked.

In a nearby computer store, the manager, Earl Dennis, jokingly said he should rename his place Obama’s Computer Store. “It’s publicity,” Mr. Dennis said. Of the chicken restaurant, he said, “I’m not eating there.”

Competition might have played some role in the new name. Crown Fried Chicken is across the street, owned by Osman Mohibi, 47, an Afghan immigrant. He keeps pictures of Mr. Obama and Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. taped to the plexiglass divider by the cash register.

Mr. Mohibi said his competitor’s misstep was winning new customers for Crown Fried Chicken. “He used the name,” Mr. Mohibi said of the owner. “He used black people.”

Kevin McCall, one of the community organizers who confronted Obama Fried Chicken’s owner, said he received calls from residents disturbed by the sign, and quickly contacted the owner to tell him it was “very offensive to African-Americans.”

The owner told him it would be taken down the next day, Mr. McCall said. When it was not, he contacted the owner again. “I said we would be out there having a rally,” Mr. McCall said.

City Councilman Charles Barron, who was also involved in the effort to change the name, said it was possible that the owner was simply trying to exploit the president’s name. “Fried chicken, watermelon and minstrels are part of the racist stereotyping of black people in America,” he said. “It’s outrageous. You have to be sensitive and knowledgeable.”

At the store on Friday afternoon, Mr. Jabbar served ice cream to teenagers and chicken wings to regulars. He said he did not really understand the pressure to bring down the sign, since everyone who came in the store seemed to like the idea. And he was concerned about what would happen if the community advocates returned.

“I’m new to this country,” he said. “I don’t really know what they could do.”

BREAKING NEWS: RICK ROSS GROUP TRIPLE C's INKED DEAL WITH DEF JAM

Rick Ross group Carol City Cartel (Triple C’s), recently inked a deal with Def Jam Records. Rick Ross has secured a distribution deal for the collective through Def Jam Records. The new deal provided an opportunity for the Miami rapper to introduce the newest Triple C’s member, Young’n Breed. The Maybach Music Group artist’s alliance with the group as well as the distribution deal comes as a major milestone for everyone involved. “On my first trip ever to New York I showcased for LA Reid and celebrated our deal with Jay Z, Timbaland and Nas – it don’t get better than that,” Breed said. Prior to the deal, Triple C’s was known for their association with Ross, who recently spent time in New York collaborating with R&B crooner Ryan Leslie for the song “Diamonds and Maybachs” and working out details for the video to the Nas-featured tune “Usual Suspects.” The group, which also includes rappers Gunplay and Torch, has appeared on Ross’ debut album Port of Miami as well as the rap star’s 2008 sophomore opus Trilla. The Def Jam deal comes as Ross gears up for the release of Deeper Than Rap. Maybach Music Group, Def Jam, XO Management and Serious Promotions will celebrate the album’s release on April 20. Invited guests for the event include Jay-Z, Nas and Timbaland. Deeper Than Rap is Ross’ follow-up to Trilla. The release, which spawned the hit singles “The Boss” featuring T-Pain and “Here I Am” featuring Nelly and Avery Storm, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart upon its first week of release. Ross, who is currently engaged in a war of words with rap rival 50 Cent, is currently enjoying the success of his latest hit, the John Legend-assisted “Magnificent.” The tune is the first single from Deeper than Rap, which is slated to hit stores April 21.

B.G., one of America's original Hot Boys, is still spitting a trail of fire to prove he can never be extinguished. Most recently Yo! Raps touched base with B.G. to talk about the anticipated Hot Boys reunion, his new solo album Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood, Chopper City and more.

"It's coming [Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood] out this summer, and then there's the Hot Boys reunion. We're wrapping up the lose ends on that. The world is gonna finally get that, and I already feel like it'll be bigger than The Beatles. The timing is just so right and so perfect. I heard from a source over after Aftermath/Interscope Records that Dr. Dre forthcoming Lp "Detox" has been push back again because it was leaked. A few recent tracks from T.I. Nas and a few others for the Detox album has already been leaked. Well it turns out that the Detox album was again leaked! This is why we keep hearing these damn reference tracks! What I am hearing is some DJ from overseas and somehow got into Dre's email and stole the tracks and possibly the full album. I heard the powers that be are looking for dude to figure our what he knows and how much of the CD he may have.

LIL WAYNE AND BABY CASH MONEY RECORDS SUED DJ DRAMA

Cash Money Records has reportedly filed a lawsuit against DJ Drama's Aphilliates Music Group and Makin Moves Entertainment over mixtape projects including Lil Wayne's Dedication series.

While details are still sketchy, the lawsuit names multiple parties aside from the Atlanta deejay.

"Plaintiff Cash Money Records Inc., by its attorneys, Goldberg & Rimberg PLLC and The Law Firm of Candance C. Carponter, P.C., for its Complaint against defendant, BCD Music Group, Inc., Tyree C. Simmons a.k.a. DJ Drama, Cinque Productions, Inc., Aphilliates Music Group, Makin Moves Entertainment and Frank Nino," the suit reads. Filed in New York in February 2009, a jury trial has been demanded with defendants having 35 days to answer the complaint. The suit names mixtape albums Happy Father's Day, When the North and South Collide, Dedication (Chopped & Screwed), Dedication 2 and Dedication 3.

Makin Music's Frank Nino has confirmed the lawsuit and has since given his thoughts.

"This ain't no game over here, this is Cash Money Records," Nino says in a video referring to the lawsuit. "Y'all gonna sue DJ Drama? If it wasn't for Drama y'all would not be poppin' right now. From Carter II to Carter III, Drama kept y'all alive. When that Dedication II hit the stores, the streets, whatever you wanna call it, the sh*t had you on fire. Every deejay followed suit and put mad music out on you...Let's say Drama made money off it, so what, let Drama eat. Without that f*cking situation with the Dedications, y'all wouldn't even be poppin'."

(Drama has since responded to the lawsuit saying it has not had an impact on his relationship with Weezy.

"The accusations against me are misplaced," Drama said in a statement. "This is not a case of Lil Wayne vs DJ Drama. Me and Wayne are good."

HARELM RAPPER CAM'RON SPEAKS ON UPCOMING MOVIES, ABLUM AND OTHER PROJECTS

Dipset leader Cam'ron has confirmed plans to release two upcoming films by the end of the year called The Bakery and Killa Season 2.

In addition to starring in at least one of the productions, Killa also discussed his roles behind the scenes.

"First movie's called The Bakery featuring my man Bang," Cam said in a recent interview. "It's just basically about trafficking drugs from state to state. And of course I got Killa Season 2 coming out this fall. Killa Season 2, we shot a couple scenes but I haven't really been working on it. I have a date to shoot in June, from June 5 to June 25 I believe. Then it'll take me about two weeks to edit so it'll be on point. I've shot about two or three scenes that I'm gonna keep for that. I did Killa Season 1 like that, I direct, produce, starred in, edited, I did everything...I'd rather write my own movie and act in my own stuff."

"What's going on everybody," Killa said in a video. "Y'all been looking for me and here I am. Just a brief breakdown real quick. The album Crime Pays comes out May 5th on Asylum/Diplomat Records, you know it's gonna be a good look. Thank you for all the support on 'I Hate My Job,' it wasn't my single or nothin', just something I threw out there but thank you for the support...Also, we have the movie for Crime Pays coming out this July. Make sure y'all go pick that up later on...I'm gonna be shooting videos from now until the album comes out. I'm gonna put out a video every two weeks."

In 2009, he has a full year of releases scheduled. The first week in July will see a mini-movie called The Bakery, which is an offshoot of the video intro he shot for "I Used to Get It in Ohio." Cam's movie Killa Season 2 will be released in October, and the soundtrack drops in September. Then there's another separate album slated for December. All that will be preceded by the May 5 release of his LP

RAPPER LIL WAYNE MUST BE ON DRUGS AGAIN BECAUSE HE'S TALKING MAD CRAZY

Weezy is currently putting the finishing touches on his upcoming Rock-inspired project Rebirth, due in June.

"Honestly? I don't want to be the best rapper in the world," Wayne told Rolling Stone in an upcoming cover story. "If I have a Rap album I'm dropping, then I want it to be the best Rap album. But I want to be the best. Period. Now. My favorite rapper hasn't done what I'm doing."

During the interview, Wayne explained his transition to Rock music.

"The Rock sh*t just comes from what my life is now. I've grown into this person," Wayne told the magazine. "I woke up one morning and had three or four women in my bed where I not only didn't know their last names, I didn't know the beginning letter of their first names. All I know is, they're the most beautiful women in the world, and I was in my own place, in whatever city I as in. And I could have thrown a dart at the map, and I'd probably have a place there too. I knew my driver was waiting downstairs for me. When my nose finally cleared from all the weed I had smoked, I smelled food in the kitchen and I knew it was my chef. Then I look on my phone and see a message and know it's from a popular woman everyone knows. And when I went in the studio that night, I couldn't just rap, 'Yeah, n*gga ... .' "

So far Wayne has released two guitar-heavy numbers from the album, Prom Queen and Hot Revolver. Although he wants to focus on Rock on Rebirth, the music on his new set isn't necessarily for all Rock fans.

"I never said, 'Lil Wayne is going to Rock, everybody.' I just got - I'm not going to say 'so good' at what I was doing, but it became such a regularity for me that I got tired of it," Wayne said. " 'You know what? I'm not going to Rap on this one.' I always knew I couldn't sing, but I also knew I had a voice that isn't heard by many and that I could learn how to stretch it and make songs sound good. Therefore, I practiced that."

The album has been pushed back several times but is expected to be released on June 7th.

Miami rapper Rick Ross is prepping the launch of his new Maybach Music label on April 21st with Deeper Than Rap. The Miami rapper's third album - with guest shots by Kanye West and Lil Wayne, Nas, Mary J. Blige, and John Legend - follows-up Port Of Miami (his 2006 debut) and Trilla (2008), both of which entered the Soundscan chart at #1 with nearly 200,000 first week sales each, both certified RIAA gold.
In advance of the Deeper Than Rap album release, the first single Magnificent featuring John Legend - described by NY Hip Hop Music Examiner as "the calm before the storm" - impacted this week at Urban radio formats. It has already picked up 600+ spins and nearly 6 million audience. Magnificent was produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, who won 2007's Best R&B Album Grammy for Mary J. Blige's The Breakthrough. R&B Songstress Keri Hilson released her debut album, "In A Perfect World..." last week. Keri Hilson had a phenomenal debut on Soundscan charts selling 94, 497 copies.
Unfortunately, inside sources have confirmed to me that Keri's album was undershipped. Sources tell us that the label only shipped 120,000 copies meaning alot of retail stores didn't have copies of the album.

New York rapper Jadakiss has announced plans to launch a new BET reality show pitting male and female deejays against one another to win a shot to work with him.

Sandy “Pepa” Denton of seminal old school group Salt-N-Pepa may be headed back to the small screen. After documenting her reunion with Cheryl “Salt” Wray on VH1, the Queens rapper is currently shopping a new series to the network chronicling her search for love.

Unlike VH1’s reality competitions with Flavor Flav and Ray J, Pepa’s show is more of a take on the hit HBO series Sex In the City, following her and her friends as they go through the dating process.

“They’re calling it ‘Pep in the City,’ but it’s just a pilot,” Pepa told XXLMag.com, adding that it has already been shot. “It’s about me and girlfriends and [being] single, cause I’ve been single and I’ve been celibate for four years. And my thing is I’m looking to find someone.”

The rap diva has a longstanding relationship with VH1. In 2007, the network aired the first episode of The Salt-N-Pepa Show, which went on to do a second season the following year, and in 2005 the group was a part of the second annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors.

Jim Jones' fourth solo album, Pray IV Reign, debuts at No. 1 on this week's 'Top Rap Albums Chart'.

Pray IV Reign, which features appearances from Ludacris, Ryan Leslie and Juelz Santana, reels in 42,900 copies in its opening week.

Debuting at No. 2 is Slim Thug with his latest effort Boss Of All Bosses.

The set, which features appearances from Scarface, Paul Wall and Mike Jones, scans 32,700 copies in its first week on the charts.

Posted at No. 3 is T.I. Paper Trail shifted 20,000 units this week, pushing its total sales to 1,836,800.

Gorilla Zoe slips three spots down to No. 4. Don't Feed Da Animals sold 15,400 discs in its second week on the chart. The album's tally stands at 46,800.
